  The processes of globalization have in evidence the multiculturalism doctrine that recognizes cultural di-versity as a part of political societies, and also the prints of worldviews guided by cleavages religious, ethnic and socioeconomic. As these different discourses are evidenced in our representation of information systems? Then it would be appropriate, to investigate whether the classification of information systems realize the ways of representing religion at the dawn of the twenty-first century. This article aims to understand the relevance of the concept of discur-sive formation in the science of religion area of linking with the socio-historical dimensions and its impact and implications for classification systems. The specific objectives are: (1) initially identify the emergency content where the discourse object arises, do it identifiable and describable; (2) describe instances of delimitation and regulation; who defines the address of the object; (3) to analyze the specification grids, specificity. The methodology approach is a exploratory study, using the theoretical and investigative method The empirical corpus is the class 2, religion, Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) and the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC).   Os processos de globalização colocaram em evidência o multiculturalismo, doutrina que reconhece a diversidade cultural como uma parte das sociedades políticas, e também as marcas das visões de mundo pautadas por clivagens religiosas, étnicas e socioe-conômicas. Como estes diferentes discursos são evidenciados em nossos sistemas de representação da informação? Seria oportuno então, investigar se os sistemas de classificação da informação dão conta das formas de representar a religião no alvorecer do século XXI. Este artigo tem o objetivo de compreen-der a pertinência da concepção de formação discursi-va na área de ciência da religião em interface com as dimensões sócio-históricas e seus impactos e impli-cações em sistemas de classificação. Os objetivos específicos são: (1) situar inicialmente as superfícies de emergência, onde surge o objeto do discurso, fazê-lo nomeável e descritível; (2) descrever as instâncias de delimitação e regulamentação; quem defi-ne o objeto do discurso; (3) analisar as grades de especificação, especificidade. O percurso metodoló-gico empregado é um estudo de caráter exploratório, utilizando o método teórico-investigativo O corpus empírico é a classe 2, religião, na Classificação De-cimal de Dewey (CDD) e na Classificação Decimal Universal (CDU). O propósito deste estudo foi explo-rar inicialmente questões para análise futura.
