    Objetivo:

    describir la utilidad del InmunoCAP® Rapid en la detección de alergias en niños y niñas entre 4 y 14 años sin tratamiento con antihistamínicos y con signos clínicos de atopia.

    Material y método:

    se hizo un estudio descriptivo transver- sal realizado a una población de 94 niños y niñas entre los 4 y 14 años de edad que acudieron a las dos consultas de pediatría del Centro de Salud de Mieres Sur, a lo largo de los años comprendidos entre 2007 y 2011, con síntomas de aler- gia tales como: rinitis, catarro descendente de vías altas, dermatitis, asma o bronquitis, a los que los pediatras pedí- an la prueba diagnóstica (diagnóstico precisión) en Atención Primaria, de InmunoCAP® Rapid.

    Resultados:

    del total de niños incluidos en el estudio, 100, entre los 4 y los 14 años, seis de ellos quedaron excluidos o bien por no entrar en el rango de edad por arriba o por aba- jo o bien por no tener un diagnóstico en la historia clínica informatizada (OMI). Por tanto, el total fue de 94 niños.

    El alérgeno más frecuente fueron los ácaros del polvo, se- guido por las gramíneas, fleo o timotea, la parietaria y la ar- temisa.

    A continuación destacan los animales, de los pólenes como el olivo y el abedul y por último, tres casos alimentarios.

    Sobre la sintomatología destaca que el 59,6% (56 casos) presentaron rinitis alérgica seguido de la dermatitis atópi- ca. En cuanto al asma, solo hubo cuatro casos aislados, 11 en conjunto con la rinitis alérgica (11,7%) y seis con la der- matitis atópica (6,4%).

    Conclusiones:

    el InmunoCAP® Rapid podría ser útil en Aten- ción Primaria como herramienta para el diagnóstico de der- matitis atópica, atopías en general o rinitis alérgica.

    Igualmente podría ser eficaz por su rapidez, sencillez y cer- canía, además de gestionarla y realizarla la enfermera, te- niendo un muy buen coste-efectividad.

    Objective:

    To describe the value of ImmunoCAP® Rapid in detecting allergies in children 4 to 14 years of age without treatment with antihistamines and with clinical signs of atopy.

    Material and methods:

    A descriptive cross-sectional study of a population of 94 children between 4 and 14 years old who went to the pediatric service in the Centro de Salud de Mieres Sur, over the years between 2007 and 2011, with allergy symptoms such as rhinitis, catarrh down the upper airways, dermatitis, asthma or bronchitis, for whom their pe- diatricians requested the diagnostic test (diagnostic accu- racy) in primary care with ImmunoCAP® Rapid.

    Results:

    Of the total number of 100 children included in the study, between 4 and 14 years old, six of them were ex- cluded for being outside the age range or not having a diagnosis in their electronic medical record (IMO). There- fore, in total in the study there were 94 children.

    The most common allergens were dust mites, followed by grasses, timothy, mugwort and parietaria, followed by ani- mals and pollen, such as olive and birch, and finally, three cases food allergies.

    As for symptomatology we must highlight that 59.6% (56 patients) had rhinitis followed by atopic dermatitis. As for asthma, there were only four isolated cases, 11 together with allergic rhinitis (11.7%) and six with atopic dermatitis (6.4%).

    Conclusions:

    ImmunoCAP® Rapid could be useful in pri- mary care as a tool for the diagnosis of atopic dermatitis, atopy or allergic rhinitis in general.

    It could also be effective for its speed, simplicity and pro- ximity, also nurses can manage and perform it, so it has a very good cost-effectiveness.
