Resumen de Sociologia da Literatura: tradições e tendências contemporâneas

  The paper aims to present a brief historical overview of the main theoretical and methodological axis that compose what is usually called Sociology of Literature. It is divided into three sections. The first draws attention to the growing number of published works on the subject. The second identifies three main trends in the field:

  “aesthetic sociology”, “literary criticism” and “historical research”. The final section analyses the theoretical upheavals of the late 20th century (the “new sociologies”) and their contributions for the development of a field of research on literature. From the perspective of these new theories the main goal of the sociology of literature is to understand the different practices involved in the trajectories that circumscribe the literary phenomenon. The greater presence of works on literature in sociology syllabus has contributed to the growing autonomy of this field of research, an autonomy which results from intersections between different areas of the social and human sciences.

  O presente artigo tem como objetivo  traçar  um rápido panorama histórico dos principais vetores teórico-metodológicos desenvolvidos no  que  é usualmente chamado de  “sociologia da  litera- tura”.  Em primeiro lugar,  chama atenção para  a crescente produção bibliográfica sobre  essa temática. Identifica três  grandes tendências nesses estudos: a “estética sociológica”, a “crítica literária” e a “pesquisa histórica”. Por último, analisa as reviravoltas teóricas ocorridas nos fins do Século XX (as “novas  sociologias”) e suas  implicações para  a constituição de uma  área  de pesquisa sobre  literatura. Nessa  perspectiva, o principal interesse é compreender as diferentes práticas envolvidas nos distintos trajetos que enfeixam o fenômeno “literário”. A maior  inserção dos  trabalhos sobre  literatura nos  cursos de sociologia tem  contribuído para  que  essa  área  de pesquisa se torne  mais  autônoma, uma  autonomia resultante das  interseções entre  diferentes áreas  das ciências humanas e sociais.
