    Las épocas de crisis político-social propician en especial medida la creación y el afianzamiento de determinados auto y heteroestereotipos. Esta afirmación resulta concluyente cuando se analiza cómo las distintas fases políticas de España a lo largo de la historia han condicionado de manera definitiva su imagen en el extranjero, en especial en Alemania. Las imágenes y estereotipos románticos creados a partir de la Guerra de la Independencia (1808-1814) sirvieron durante la primera mitad del siglo veinte de instrumento de manipulación propagandística que debía contribuir a ensalzar la ejemplaridad del aliado español. Este artificio político, que buscaba la simpatía ideológica con el sistema de valores nacionalsocialista, se valió de manera particular de las producciones cinematográficas hispano-alemanas para lograr su objetivo

    At times of political and social crisis the creation and consolidation of certain auto- and hetero-stereotypes are particularly fostered. This statement becomes conclusive when analyzing how the different political phases in Spain throughout history have decisively determined its image abroad. Romantic images created during the War of Independence (1808-1814) served as an instrument of propagandistic manipulation meant to promote the improvement of the political ally's imagen during the first half of the twentieth century. This political artifice, which was meant to manifest an ideological resonance with the National Socialist worldview, was promoted in a particular way by the coproductions of the Hispanic and German film industry

    Politisch-soziale Krisenzeiten tragen in besonderem Maße zur Entstehung und Festigung von bestimmten Auto- und Heterostereotypen bei. Diese schlüssige Behauptung kann man anhand der Analyse der verschiedenen politischen Phasen Spaniens im Laufe seiner Geschichte und ihrer Auswirkung auf das erzeugte Fremdenbild nachvollziehen. Das durch den spanischen Unabhängigkeitskrieg (1808-1814) verbreitete stereotypisierte Gedankengut der Romantik wurde in der ersten Hälfte des zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts zu einem Instrument propagandistischer Manipulation, das den Vorbildcharakter des spanischen Alliierten hervorheben sollte. Dieser politische Kunstgriff verfolgte die ideologische Sympathie für das nationalsozialistische Weltbild und bediente sich auf bemerkenswerte Weise der deutsch-spanischen Filmproduktionen, um seinen Zweck zu erfüllen.
