Les thèmes de la sagesse collective et des avantages cognitifs de la diversité ont bénéficié ces dernières années d'un certain attrait en théorie politique, notamment dans le courant dit « démocratie épistémique ». L'un des principaux arguments repose sur un ensemble de démonstrations mathématiques établies par Lu Hong et Scott Page. Nous présentons ces résultats et montrons que les modélisations mises en uvre pour les établir sont mal construites et que ces résultats sont erronés d'un point de vue mathématique. Enfin, quand bien même les résultats seraient bien construits et justes, ils seraient inapplicables en théorie politique.

The themes of collective wisdom and cognitive advantages of diversity have benefited in recent years from a certain attraction in political theory, particularly in the so-called epistemic democracy movement. One of the main arguments is based on a set of mathematical demonstrations established by Lu Hong and Scott Page. We present these results and show that the models used to establish them are poorly constructed and that results are incorrect from a mathematical point of view. In the end, we point out that, even if the results were well constructed and exact, they would be inapplicable in political theory.
