Acció institucional i conflicte social a l’Amazònia

    This paper is the result of research into the analysis of the social conflict brought about by the construction of the Belo Monte hydroelectric plant in Brazil’s eastern Amazon. It is based on a theoretical and analytical framework that combines principles issuing from the sociological and cultural approach of the “New Institutionalism” and the debate on “rational choice” as well as communicative action based on Jürgen Habermas’ theory. We analyse the strategies of institutions and social stakeholders involved in the conflict. In terms of conclusions, the paper makes a differentiation between the harmonisation of action plans and the opportunistic role of some of the economic stakeholders

    Aquest escrit és el resultat de la recerca basada en l’anàlisi del conflicte social sorgit entorn de la construcció de la central hidroelèctrica de Belo Monte (Amazònia oriental brasilera).

    Parteix d’un marc teòric i analític que combina els postulats provinents de l’enfocament sociològic i culturalista del «nou institucionalisme», el debat al voltant de la «tria racional» i l’acció comunicativa, basada en la teoria de l’acció de Jürgen Habermas. S’analitza l’estratègia de les institucions i dels actors al voltant del conflicte social. Com a principal conclusió s’estableixen diferències en l’harmonització de plans d’acció i el paper oportunista dels actors econòmics.
