  • The article analyses Borges’ relationship to and his special interest in the literary genre ‘gauchesca’ through his critical essays and narrative tales. We discuss in particular it studies “El fin” (1944) and “Biografía de Tadeo Isidoro Cruz (1814 - 1874)” (1949) and its special connection to the poem Martin Fierro. These short stories are striking example of the writing technique of the Argentine author and his taste for the neofantástico.
