    La vida de Grigori Rasputín no deja de sorprendernos a pesar de los casi cien años transcurridos después de su dramático asesinato, en diciembre de 1916. Es difícil de entender, en un principio, cómo un humilde campesino siberiano rudo, sucío y semianalfabeto fue capaz de llegar a la Corte rusa y, no solo eso, sino llegar a ser con sejero de los zares e influir en la más alta esfera política rusa durante varios años, llegando a ser llamado “nuestro amigo” por los zares.

    Su ascenso se inicia a principios del s. XX, en la ciudad de San Petersburgo, cuando llega a esta ciudad de la mano de dos prestigiosos monjes ortodoxos (el obispo Her mógenes y el predicador Eliodoro) que le facilitarán contactos con la alta sociedad de la ciudad. Una casualidad, la enfermedad del zarévich Alejandro, junto con la fama de Santo y milagrero que tiene Grigori en San Petersburgo y el contacto que tiene habitual mente con la princesa Militsa de Montenegro, posibilitará el acercamiento y acogida de Rasputín en la Corte zarista.

    Al curar al zarévich, momentáneamente de su enfermedad, Rasputín será considerado, por la mística zarina Alejandra, como un Santo y, a partir de ahí, será un personaje imprescindible para los zares que, periódicamente, le llamarán para curar las recaídas puntuales del joven Alejandro. Los excesos y abusos de poder –y de todo tipo- cometidos por Rasputín provocarán un complot para acabar con su vida que será materializado, en diciembre de 1916, por el príncipe Yusúpov (como él mismo cuenta en sus memorias) junto con una serie de personas pertenecientes a las diversas clases sociales rusas (oficiales del ejército, políticos, aristócratas, miembros de la familia del zar…) e incluso agentes del servicio secreto británico.

    The life of Grigori Rasputin does not stop surprising us in spite of almost hundred years passed after his dramatic murder, in December, 1916. It is difficult to deal, in a beginning, how a humble Siberian rough peasant, dirty and semiilliterate it was capable of coming to the Russian Court and, not only it, but to manage to belong with sejero to the czars and to influence the highest political Russian sphere for several years, coming to be called " our friend " for the czars. His ascent begins at the beginning of s. The XXth, in the city of Saint Petersburg, when it comes to this city of the hand of two prestigious orthodox monks (the bishop Hermógenes and the preacher Eliodoro) that will facilitate contacts to him with the high company of the city. A chance, the disease of the zarévich Alejandro, together with the Saint's reputation and miracle-working that has Grigori in Saint Petersburg and the contact that has habitual mind with the princess Militsa of Montenegro, will make possible the approximation and reception of Rasputin in the czarist Court. On having treated the zarévich, momentarily of his disease, Rasputin will be considered to be, for the mystical tsarina Alejandra, a Saint and, from there, will be an indispensable personage for the czars who, from time to time, will call him to treat the punctual relapses of the young person Alejandro. The excesses and abuses of power - and of any type - committed by Rasputin they will provoke a conspiracy to finish with his life that will be materialized, in December, 1916, by the prince Yusúpov (as himself counts it in his memories) together with a series of persons belonging to the diverse ones Social Russian classes (officials of the army, politicians, aristocrats, members of the family of the czar …) and enclosed agents of the secret British service.
