    El antiguo colegio de San Andrés de Tudela es una fundación de la Compañía de Jesús que tuvo lugar a comienzos del siglo xvii, en plena efervescencia de los postulados tridentinos. El programa iconográfico que se estableció en un primer momento en la iglesia colegial concordaba con los motivos habituales en el seno de la orden ignaciana, como son la gloria de Dios y la exaltación del propio instituto religioso a través de sus santos más representativos. Sin embargo, a mediados del siglo xviii se realizaron una serie de modificaciones en el ornato interior, que condujeron a potenciar la figura de san Francisco Javier, transformando este programa iconográfico en un canto a las glorias del santo navarro.

Kolegio-elizan hasiera batean ezarri zen programa ikonografikoa bat zetorren jesuiten ordenaren baitan ohi ziren motiboekin, hala nola Jainkoaren aintza eta ordenaren santu esanguratsuenen bidez erlijioso-institutuaren gorespena. Alabaina, xviii. mendearen erdialdean zenbait aldaketa egin ziren barruko apainduran. Hauek San Frantzisko Xabierkoaren irudia indartu zuten eta programa ikonografiko hura nafar santuaren aintzaren kantu bihurtu.

    The ancient college of San Andrés in Tudela is a foundation made by the Society of Jesus in the early 17th century, in full high spirits of the Tridentine postulates. The iconographic program that was established at first in its church was consistent with the usual themes within the Ignatian order, which are the glory of God and the exaltation of the religious organization itself, through its most representative saints. However, in the mid-18th century some changes were made in the interior decoration, which led to enhance the figure of St. Francis Xavier, transforming this iconographic program in a hymn to the glories of this saint from Navarre.
