  La presente investigación tiene por finalidad analizar, aunque sea someramente, algunos aspectos relevantes que tipifican desde su nacimiento al pueblo araucano, y que sirvieron para forjar el carácter del pueblo chileno. Dicha mirada se analiza principalmente desde el punto de vista de los que fueron, por casi trescientos años, sus enemigos. Aunque los mapuches constituyen un importante elemento étnico y cultural, que se amalgama, con elementos foráneos, en el crisol de la República de Chile, a lo largo de la historia su relevancia ha sido subestimada por textos jurídicos, gobiernos, prensa, etc. Quizás, los que más los han realzado, han sido sus antiguos contrincantes: los naturales del Reino de España

  This research aims to examine, albeit briefly, some important aspects that typify from birth to Araucanian people, which have helped to shape the character of the Chilean people. This look is mainly analyzed from the point of view of those who were, for nearly three hundred years, their enemies. Although the Mapuche are an important ethnic and cultural element, which is amalgamated with foreign elements, in the crucible of the Republic of Chile, throughout history its importance has been underestimated by legal texts, government, media, etc. Perhaps, the most they have enhanced, were his former opponents: the natives of the Kingdom of Spain
