Violence in the media, as a specific aspect of the role violence plays in our society, has become a fixed element on the list of people's concerns, at least in the developed countries. Regarding this concern, there is such a widely held opinion about the excess of television violence and the necessity of reducing it, that one can but ask oneselfwhy showing violence on television continues to be a problem. If social rejection is so widespread, if the heads of television stations are not calculating their objectives carefully and are offering material that the viewers do not like, why does televised violence continue to fill all of the areas of programming, ever more regardless of genre, channel or time-slot? This article attempts to respond to this question.
