Los antecedentes de la Educación para la Paz como corriente pedagógica se vinculan al referente teórico básico de la Escuela Nueva, interpretado como movimiento de renovación educativa en la coyuntura de principios del siglo XX. El resultado del debate entre Pedagogía Tradicional y la Escuela Nueva, dejó el saldo de un mayor nivel de preocupación por abordar la visión del hombre en relación con la sociedad. El presente trabajo pretende realizar una aproximación a algunos elementos de la evolución histórica de la Educación para la Paz en los escenarios de América y Europa.

The antecedents of Education for Peace as a pedagogical trend are linked to the theoretical bases of the New School, understood as a renewing educative movement in the threshold of the beginnings of the 21st century. The outcome of the debate between the New School and the Traditional Pedagogy left as a positive point a higher level of concern to approach the vision of man in his interaction with the society. The present article has as a major objective to approach certain elements in the historic evolution of Education for Peace in America and Europe.
