  “Si piensas que la prevención es cara,prueba con un accidente”, afirmó el secretario general de la IALA(Asociación Internacional de Señalización Marítima), FrancisZachariae, en el 13º Simposio Internacional VTS (Control y Gestión del Tráfico Marítimo) en Kuala Lumpur. Asistieron un total de 257 participantes pertenecientes a 38 países. En la inauguración estuvo presente el secretario general de la Organización Marítima Internacional (OMI), Kitack Lim. España estuvo representada por el Área VTS del Centro de Seguridad Marítima Integral “Jovellanos”, perteneciente a Salvamento Marítimo. También se hizo pública la sexta versión del Manual VTS de la IALA, la cual tiene por primera vez formato exclusivamente digital y en la que ha colaborado “Jovellanos”.

A total of 257 attendees from 38 countries participated in the event and the opening ceremony was attended by the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Kitack Lim. Spain was represented by the VTS Area of the Jovellanos integrated maritime safety centre, belonging to the Spanish Maritime Safety Agency. The sixth version of the IALA VTS Manual, to which the Jovellanos Centre contributed, was published for the first time in an exclusively digital format
