“El transporte marítimo: indispensable para el mundo” ha sido el lema de los actos conmemorativos del Día Marítimo Mundial que se celebraron en la sede de la Organización Marítima Internacional (OMI), en Londres.
Alrededor del 80% del comercio se traslada a través de este tipo de transporte. Sin él, no sería posible la importación y exportación de mercancías en la escala necesaria para mantener el mundo actual. Entre las actividades desarrolladas, se celebró la segunda reunión de Embajadores Marítimos de la OMI, a la que asistió el secretario general de la Organización, y en la que participó el nuevo embajador marítimo de la OMI para España y capitán marítimo de Tenerife, Antonio M. Padrón.

“Shipping: indispensable for the world” was the motto of the World Maritime Day celebrations held at the headquarters of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in London. About 80% of world trade is transported by ship. Without it, the import and export of goods on the scale necessary to sustain the modern world could not take place.
Among the activities carried out was the second meeting of IMO Maritime Ambassadors, attended by the Secretary General of the Organization and attended by IMO's new maritime ambassador for Spain and the maritime captain of Tenerife, Antonio M Padrón.
