    La adolescencia es un periodo de transición entre la niñez y la juventud en la cual, los/as adolescentes sufren grandes cambios en el área física, intelectual, emocional, social y espiritual. En el mundo, se estima que, del 15 al 30% de los/as niños/as y adolescentes presentan algún trastorno mental. Además, la mayoría de ellos están sin diagnosticar y/o tratar ya que la atención de salud de estos constituye una asignatura pendiente para los/as enfermeros/as que a ese nivel desarrollan su labor ya que no realizan las intervenciones comunitarias. Como una de las causas principales de este problema destaca la perspectiva médica de que la población adolescente es relativamente sana, obviándose que en algunos/as se producen numerosas alteraciones emocionales y conductas de riesgo, las cuales llegan a ser las principales causas de morbilidad y mortalidad en esta franja de edad.

    Una de las soluciones que pueden existir para este problema es la instauración de enfermeras escolares en todos los centros educativos, las cuales generarán un nexo de unión entre el sistema educativo y el sanitario. Éstas, se encargan de realizar una detección precoz de las necesidades de salud de los alumnos/as, identificando aquellos problemas que posean, ya sean potenciales o reales. El abordaje posterior lo realizará la enfermera escolar o, en su defecto, el servicio sanitario pertinente.

    One of the solutions that can exist for this problem is the restoration of school nurses in all the educational centers, which were generating a link of unionbetweentheeducationalsystem and thesanitaryone. These, they take charge realizing a precocious detention of the needs of health of the pupils, identifying those problems that they possess, already be potential or royal. The later boarding the school nurse will realize it or, in his fault, the sanitary pertinent service.
