Resumen de Les edicions del vuitcentista diccionari Saura a partir d'un apunt d'un bloc

El naturalista barceloní Santiago (o Jaume) Àngel Saura i Mascaró (1818-1882) fou també l’autor del diccionari català més reeditat del segle XIX. Aquest aparegué el 1851 amb el títol de Diccionario manual, ó vocabulario completo de las lenguas catalana-castellana. Gaudí de tal popularitat que seixanta anys després encara es publicava. Les desenes de reedicions —entre els dos sentits— d’aquesta petita obra suposen un problema bibliogràfic que se soluciona de diferent manera depenent de la font que el tracti. Per tal d’afrontar aquesta qüestió, l’any 2008 vam publicar un apunt al bloc Gazophylacium sota el títol “Les edicions del diccionari Saura: un puzle incomplet”. L’ajut de les diverses aportacions dels comentaristes, juntament amb l’ús d’altres eines digitals com la xarxa social de catalogació de biblioteques LibraryThing, ens ha permès, amb el pas del temps, anar trobant més exemplars d’aquest útil manual bilingüe d’equivalències. El resultat d’aquesta recerca no es pot considerar definitiu, però millora el de qualsevol intent anterior de concretar mitjançant les diferents edicions la popularitat del diccionari Saura.

The naturalist from Barcelona Santiago (or Jaume) Àngel Saura i Mascaró (1818-1882) was also the author of the most reprinted Catalan dictionary from the 19th century. This dictionary appeared in 1851 under the title Diccionario manual, ó vocabulario completo de las lenguas catalana-castellana. It had such popularity that even sixty years after it was being published. The tens of reissues —among both senses— of this small work pose a bibliographic problem solved differently depending on the source that faces it. To tackle this issue, in 2008 we published a post in the Gazophylacium blog titled “Les edicions del diccionari Saura: un puzle incomplet”. The support of the various contributions of commentators, along with the use of other digital tools like social network cataloging library LibraryThing, has allowed us, over time, to find more editions of this useful bilingual manual of equivalences. The result of this research cannot be considered definitive, but it improves any previous attempt of showing the popularity of Saura’s dictionary through its different editions.
