Resumen de Els 'Secrets d'agricultura' de Miquel Agustí (1617): fonts i llengua

El llibre de Miquel Agustí, Llibre dels secrets de agricultura, casa rústica y pastoril, aparegut en català el 1617, i amb nombroses edicions en castellà posteriors, s’analitza des del punt de vista de les fonts directes per a donar alguns trets textuals i lingüístics rellevants. Amb la constatació que es tracta, en una part majoritària, de la traducció de l’obra francesa sobre agricultura de Charles Estienne i Jean Liébault, es comenten alguns exemples del resultat del trasllat del francès al català. Això ens permet trobar l’explicació d’alguns passatges incoherents, producte d’errades o tergiversacions en la traducció. L’acarament amb les fonts, doncs, és ineludible si volem entendre tant el contingut com la llengua d’un dels llibres més importants de la història dels textos agronòmics catalans.

The book written by Miquel Agustí, Llibre dels secrets de agricultura, casa rústica y pastoril (‘Book of secrets of agriculture, rustic and pastoral house’), published in 1617 in Catalan, and with numerous editions later in Spanish, is analyzed from the point of view of its direct sources in order to describe its relevant textual and linguistic features. It is mostly a translation of the work on agriculture written in French by Charles Estienne and Jean Liébault. The comparison of some examples of the French text and the Catalan translated text allow us to explain some incoherent passages, mistakes or misrepresentations in translation. The analysis shows that the confrontation with the sources is unavoidable to understand both the content and the language of one of the most important books in the history of the Catalan agronomic texts.
