    El Centro Documental de la Memoria Histórica (CDMH) es la última fase en la evolución institucional de una serie de organismos que iniciaron su actividad durante la Guerra Civil con el fin de confiscar los documentos, libros y otro tipo de objetos a las instituciones y personas afines al régimen republicano. Durante el franquismo estos documentos fueron utilizados con fines de carácter represivo, pero una vez finalizada la dictadura se pusieron al servicio de la investigación y han sido un instrumento fundamental para llevar a cabo la reparación de las víctimas de la Guerra Civil y de la dictadura. Hoy en día, para llevar a cabo los fines que tiene encomendados, el CDMH ha ampliado sus instalaciones y acrecentado el patrimonio documental, bibliográfico y museográfico que había heredado. Así mismo, cuenta con una estructura orgánica: Patronato, Dirección, Área de Archivo, Área de Biblioteca y Área de Difusión. El fin último es poner a disposición de las víctimas, los ciudadanos e investigadores este patrimonio, así como llevar a cabo una función de carácter pedagógico en la sociedad.

    The Historical Memory Documentary Center (CDMH) is the last stage in the institutional development of a number of agencies that began their activity during the Civil War in order to seize documents, books and other objects to institutions and persons related to the republican regime. During francoism these documents were used for the purposes of repressive character, but when the dictatorship ended these documents were used for research and have been a powerful tool to carry out the reparation of victims of the Civil War and the dictatorship.

    Today, to carry out the purposes entrusted to the center, its facilities have been enlarged and it has a documentary, bibliographic and museological heritage, as well as an organizational structure: Board of Trustees, Direction, Archive Department, Library Department and Dissemination Department. The ultimate aim is to make available this heritage to the victims, citizens and researchers and to carry out a pedagogical function in society.
