Relaciones sociales y las formas de tratamiento en la novela La lapa (1908)

    Uno de los aspectos más interesantes y estudiados por la sociolingüística y otras disciplinas afines, también desde la perspectiva diacrónica, es el de las formas de tratamiento, pues se trata de usos lingüísticos que se caracterizan por estar estrechamente relacionados con la estructura social y determinados por las normas y conductas que impone. En este sentido, este trabajo pretende ser una aproximación al uso de las formas de tratamiento nominales y pronominales en las Islas Canarias a finales del siglo XIX y principios del siglo XX, para lo que se utilizará como referencia la novela realista La Lapa (1908) del escritor canario Ángel Guerra, pues intenta reflejar fielmente los usos lingüísticos de la época e incluye una nómina bastante interesante de relaciones sociales —tanto simétricas como asimétricas— diferentes.

    Forms of address are one of the most interesting and widely studied topics in sociolinguistics and related disciplines.These have also been studied extensively from a diachronic point of view. The relevance of forms of address lies in their relationship with social structure and the norms and behavioural patterns that this structure imposes. In this sense, this paper aims to analyse the use of both nominal and pronominal forms of address in the Canary Islands, especially in the end of the nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth century. With that purpose in mind, this paper examines La Lapa(1908), a realist novel by ÁngelGuerra that tries to accurately depict the linguistic uses of that time and that portrays a wide group of social relationships, both in terms of power and solidarity.
