  El cuidado de enfermería en el marco del manejo integral del individuo, ha centrado gran parte de sus actividades en la incorporación, atención y satisfacción de las necesidades de la familia, de manera que estas intervenciones cobran una importancia significativa y se convierten en uno de los pilares fundamentales en el desempeño profesional de la/el enfermera/o.

  Teniendo en cuenta que unas de las principales necesidades de la familia es el contacto con el ser querido y el conocimiento del estado de salud, tratamiento y pronóstico del mismo, la presencia del familiar durante la reanimación cerebro cardiopulmonar se convierte entonces en una necesidad esencial; sin embargo, este tema sigue causando bastante controversia en el ámbito hospitalario, de manera que el presente artículo busca dar a conocer la importancia de la participación familiar, las percepciones de los profesionales de la salud y el rol del profesional de enfermería ante la presencia del familiar durante la reanimación cerebro cardiopulmonar.

  Nursing care in the framework of integrated management of the individual, has focused much of this activities in the inclusion, care and meeting the needs of the family, so that these interventions gained significant importance and become one of the milestones in the professional performance of the nurse.

  Given that one of the main needs of the family is in touch with the loved and knowledge of healthy condition, treatment and prognosis, the presence of family members during brain-cardiopulmonary resuscitatio, then becomes an essential need; however, this issue is causing much controversy in the hospital, so this article aims to raise awareness of the importance of family involvement, perceptions of health professionals and the role of the nurse in the presence of family during brain-cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
