  En este artículo pretendemos ofrecer una visión general de las reflexiones de Aristóteles sobre los páthē en el contexto de la Retórica, tomando como punto de partida la interpretación cognitivista desarrollada por W. Fortenbaugh. En vista de ello, analizaremos el tipo de definición que concierne a las emociones y el método empleado en su dilucidación. Finalmente, nuestra atención se dirige a mostrar la definición particular de phóbos y sus implicaciones para la teoría aristotélica de las pasiones.

  The aim of the present paper is provide an overview of Aristotle’s thoughts about the páthē such as they are exposed in the context of his Rhetoric, taking the Fortenbaugh’s cognitivist interpretation as a basic assumption. For this purpose, we analyze the type of definition that concerns to emotions and the employed method. Finally, we focus our attention in show the particular definition of phóbos and its consequences for the aristotelian theory of passions.
