Resumen de Woody Allen ante el mito de Edipo

El trabajo aplica ciertos métodos y conocimientos propios de la Tradición Clásica a una obra cinematográfica. Se valora el vínculo existente entre una película nor- teamericana contemporánea, Poderosa Afrodita de Woody Allen (Mighty Aphrodite, 1995) y el mito de Edipo. Para esto, se analiza cómo se ha adaptado la temática, estructura y mensaje del mito; qué modificaciones han experimentado estos aspectos, y qué función cumple el mito dentro de la trama cinematográfica. Asimismo, se considera la relación de Woody Allen con las obras clásicas y las posibles fuentes que utilizó. Partiendo de la existencia de una relación de mímesis entre ambos objetos, se determina de qué tipo de mímesis se trata.

This work aims to establish a relationship between specific knowledge and methods of Classical Tradition with regard to a film work. In the analysis, the attention is drawn to the possible link between Mighty Aphrodite filmed by Woody Allen (1995) and the classical masterpiece Oedipus King. To achieve this, I analyze how the original topic, structure and message of the myth are adapted to the new version and look into modifications they go through. Furthermore, I examine what function the myth plays in the cinematographic plot. At the same time, I study the connection between the film director and the myth as well as the possible sources he used. Considering that there is a mimesis relationship between the myth and the film, it is shown what kind of mimesis it deals with.
