¿De Juan B. Justo a Perón? Relecturas del pasado nacional y la tradición partidaria en los grupos socialistas del PSRN

    Este artículo analiza los usos del pasado por parte de algunos de los grupos que, durante el segundo gobierno peronista, conformarían el Partido Socialista de la Revolución Nacional (PSRN), agrupamiento de diversas corrientes de izquierda afines al peronismo. Se enfoca en particular sobre dos grupos escindidos del Partido Socialista, caracterizado por su intransigente oposición al gobierno de Perón. Dado que el PS hacía de los usos del pasado una herramienta de primer orden en su lucha contra el peronismo, para los dirigentes y militantes que provenían de esa agrupación, la adhesión al gobierno peronista planteaba la necesidad de ensayar una justificación política que implicaba, en alguna medida, una revisión del pasado nacional y/o de la trayectoria previa del socialismo: o bien se reconsideraba el lugar que el peronismo ocupaba en la historia argentina, inscribiéndolo de alguna manera en la genealogía reivindicada por la tradición partidaria, de fuerte raigambre liberal, o bien se revisaban algunos de los tópicos tenidos como válidos por esa tradición. Mediante el análisis de los periódicos La Vanguardia (Tercera etapa) y Argentina de Hoy, a través de los cuales se expresaban estas corrientes, se tratará de determinar qué lugar ocupó en la articulación de su discurso la reinterpretación del pasado, tanto nacional como partidario, mirado ahora a través del prisma del hecho peronista, es decir, desde un presente también sometido a revisión.

    This article analyzes the uses of the past by some of the groups that made the Partido Socialista de la Revolución Nacional (PSRN), a grouping of several leftist trends which were getting closer to Peronism. It focuses on two groups split from the Partido Socialista, characterized by its hard opposition to Perón’s government. The PS had relied upon the uses of the past to sustain the struggle against Peronism. Hence, for the leaders and activists who came from that party, their recent support to the Peronist government raised the need to try a political explanation, which implied to some extent a review of the national history and/or the previous trajectory of socialism: they had to either reconsider the place occupied by Peronism in Argentine history, re-inscribing it in some way within the strongly liberal genealogy claimed by the party tradition, or to review some of the liberal topics that were hard to assimilate to the new experience. Through the analysis of the two newspapers through which these political trends were expressed, La Vanguardia (Tercera etapa) and Argentina de Hoy, the article seeks to determine the place occupied by reinterpretations of the past in the articulation of their new discourse. Hence the reinterpretations of national and partisan pasts are seen through the prism of a Peronist present which was under deep reassessment as well.
