Resumen de "Encore à cet astre", de Jules Laforgue, y "Desnudo bajando una escalera, nº2", de Marcel Duchamp: la muerte del idealismo solar

Entre noviembre y diciembre de 1911, Marcel Duchamp realiza en Neuilly tres dibujos sobre papel que ilustran, mediante un lenguaje esquivo y harto sumario, otros tantos poemas del simbolista francés Jules Laforgue: Médiocrité; Siesteéternelle; y Encore à cet astre. Este último supuso el primer boceto para su primera obra de repercusión internacional, Desnudo bajando una escalera, nº 2, la cual constituye, a su vez, el primer “asiento” para la revolución artística llevada a cabo en el Gran Vidrio. Los roles que el sol –la luz, lo masculino– y la luna –la sombra y lo femenino– adquirieron en la poesía de Laforgue fueron retomados por Duchamp para cimentar la arquitectura del nuevo régimen visual por él concebido.

The period of November to December 1911 in Neully, Marcel Duchamp made, using a very concise and elusive language, three drawings depicting some poems by the French symbolist Jules Laforgue: Médiocrité; Siesteéternelle; y Encore à cet astre. The latter was the first sketch of his earliest work with an international impact, Nude Descendant an Scalier, nº2, which was key to the artistic revolution that Le Grand Verre would bring about. The revision done by Duchamp of the roles played by the sun –the light, the masculine– and the moon –the shadow, the feminine– in Laforgue’s poetry, would set the new visual regime conceived by the artist.
