    Toda una serie de hechos fechados en torno a la década de los 50 del siglo I de nuestra era nos llevan a pensar que sería el emperador Claudio quien no solo pondría en explotación los recursos mineros del norte peninsular con cierta intensidad, sino también el funcionamiento de los conventus iuridici como subdivisiones provinciales en dicho suelo. Sobresalen entre ellos la desmilitarización del norte peninsular (con la desaparición de los distritos), el aprovechamiento agrícola de los prados militares, la reconversión de funciones de los soldados establecidos en dicho espacio geográfico, la presencia de militares (legionarios y auxiliares) en zonas mineras, el cese de las acuñaciones monetarias en suelo hispano y el funcionamiento de los conventus jurídicos con todas sus consecuencias.

    Many facts, dated around the decade of the 50’s of the first century of the Christian era, lead us to think that it was Emperor Claudius who developed not only the mining resources in Northern Hispania, but also the conventus iuridici as provincial subdivisions of this territory. Among those facts, we can stand out the demilitarization of Northern Hispania (with the suppression of districts), the agricultural exploitation of military fields, the reorganization of the functions of the soldiers, the presence of militaries (legionaries and auxiliaries) in those mining territories, the interruption of coinage in Roman Spain, and the operation of legal conventus with all its consequences.
