    La disfagia orofaríngea es un síntoma muy prevalente, sobre todo en población anciana. Las causas son múltiples, destacando las neurológicas. Su morbimortalidad es alta, debido a las complicaciones respiratorias y nutricionales, por lo tanto el diagnóstico precoz debe ser fundamental. Necesita de un abordaje multidisciplinario para un mejor enfoque terapéutico. Las claves para su diagnóstico se basan en una buena anamnesis y exploración física, exploración clínica con MECV-V (método de exploración clínica volumen-viscosidad) y exploraciones instrumentales. El objetivo fundamental para un paciente con disfagia es conseguir una alimentación oral con una deglución segura y eficaz, existiendo múltiples enfoques terapéuticos en función de la alteración deglutoria del paciente.

    El objetivo de esta revisión es una puesta al día del manejo de la disfagia orofaríngea en nuestro medio.

    Oropharyngeal dysphagia is a very prevalent symptom, especially in the elderly population. The causes are multiple, being the neurological ones the most important. Its morbidity and mortality is high, due to respiratory and nutritional complications, therefore, its early diagnosis is essential. It needs a multidisciplinary approach for a better therapeutic approach. The keys to its diagnosis are based on a good medical history and physical examination, on a clinical examination with a Volume-Viscosity Swallow Test (V-VST) and on instrumental examinations. The fundamental objective for a patient with dysphagia is to achieve the oral feeding of the patient with a safe and effective swallowing, and there are multiple therapeutic approaches depending on the alteration of the patient's swallowing.

    The objective of this review is an update of the management of oropharyngeal dysphagia in our country.
