The aim of this article is to highlight the role that physical therapy plays in the field of temporomandibular disorders (DCM) and orofacial pain (DOF) and the importance of adequate diagnosis of symptoms and interdisciplinary treatment. We also present a brief summary of those techniques that have shown scientific evidence in treatment of these pathologies, dry needling of myofascial trigger points and biomechanical and neurological effects of manual therapy. Also make some considerations on the pathogenesis and pathophysiology of orofacial pain in relation to physiotherapy.
