    ¿Se puede hablar hoy de “un mundo moderno contra la persona”? Esta es la pregunta que jalona nuestra reflexión y que hace eco a la pregunta que se hacía Emmanuel Mounier al tratar de mostrar en su libro Manifiesto al servicio del personalismo la forma como el mundo moderno atenta contra la persona. Preguntarnos por la persona hoy y su formación implica, en primer lugar, situarnos históricamente en lo que llamamos la “posmodernidad” tratando de descubrir en ella sus luces y sombras, especialmente resaltando aquello que “atenta” contra la persona. En segundo lugar, exploraremos cuál es el aporte de Emmanuel Mounier en cuanto a lo que él piensa sobre “el mundo moderno contra la persona” y su actualidad.

    Por último, con base en las dos anteriores, esbozaremos unas líneas de reflexión que permitan al educador y a las instituciones educativas, repensar su tarea de promoción y defensa de la persona desde la situación particular del hombre hoy y el futuro que él mismo está fabricando.

    Can we talk about a “modern world against the person”? This is the question that leads our reflexion, following the question that Emmanuel Mounier asks in his The personalism manifesto about the way in which the modern world goes against the person. Asking about the person today and its formation implies, in the first place, to put ourselves historically on what is called “postmodernism”, trying to discover the bright and dark sides of the postmodernism, especially highlighting what “goes against” the person. In the second place, we will explore the main contribution of Emmanuel Mounier regarding his thoughts about “the modern world against the person” and its relevance. Finally, based on the two first aspects, we will outline some ways of reflection for teachers and educational institutions to rethink their task of promotion and defense of the person considering the current particular situation of the human being and the future he is building.
