    Nuestro artículo expone una estructura textual de los Ejercicios Espirituales de san Ignacio de Loyola (1491-1556), que mira el proceso del ejercitante como medio y fin. Este resulta doble: para quien los da y para quien los recibe. Por lo tanto, de entrada, enunciamos cómo, en ambos casos, el desarrollo deviene bilateral y pieza nuclear. Para quien los da, la estructura se presenta helicoidal, mientras que, para el ejercitante o para quien los recibe, el proceso evoluciona de manera especular –que no especulativa– o en forma de espejo-icono a lo largo de los ejercicios y otras operaciones espirituales que realice.

    Our article analyzes the textual structure of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556), while looking at the process of the exercitant as means and end. This has a two-fold outcome: for the one who gives and for one who receives (exercitant). Hence, right from the outset we make clear how the process in both instances becomes bilateral and crucial or central. In the first instance, the structure is helical –in spiral form, while for the one who receives (exercitant), the process gradually evolves in a ‘Mirror-image’ manner, –not speculative but in the form of mirror-icons– all through the exercises and other spiritual activities.
