    En el presente artículose analizarán brevemente las figuras mitológicas de Grand-mère Kalle, la bruja por antonomasia de Isla Reunión (territorio francés de ultramar), y la de Yama Uba, perteneciente al fértil folclore japonés. Dos mujeres que han servido para asustar a los niños (y a los no tan niños) desde sus respectivas tradiciones orales y desde hace yavarios siglos .

    While Grand-mère Kalle is the example par excellence of the image of the witch from Reunion Island, Yama Uba is said to be a yōkai, belonging to Japanese folklore. These two women have helped to frighten children (and also adults) from their respective oral traditions for a very long time. In this article, both female images will be analysed in order to find out the origin of their respective legendary sources and to describe in detail the features which make up their mythological shapes from one side of the planet to the other.
