El efecto impresionista en el discurso fílmico de Jean Epstein: El hundimiento de la casa Usher

    El presente artículo pretende demostrar cómo existe un paralelismo entre las cualidades figurativas del impresionismo pictórico y la estética vanguardista que configura Jean Epstein en su película El hundimiento de la casa Usher. A su vez se estudia el proceso de adaptación del universo literario de Edgar Allan Poe, amparado en el estilo de romanticismo gótico, al tratamiento visual que se confecciona en dicha película, así como las cualidades técnicas utilizadas en la narrativa visual y los modos de representación visual. De este modo, se intenta vislumbrar cómo la obra analizada posee una hibridación de recursos visuales apoyada en el efecto del impresionismo plástico hacia el tenebrismo literario, además de ampararse en algunos rasgos que preludian la estética surrealista. La metodología empleada para el análisis se basa en utilizar las variables estéticas que permiten sustentar la hibridación de modelos de representación visual que sustenta dicho filme. A través de la articulación del análisis textual se permitirá observar cómo confluyen diferentes modelos de representación visual, y cuáles son los rasgos que caracterizan la marca de autor que permiten posicionarlo como un artista vanguardista capaz de adaptar la narración gótica a un ambiente romántico bajo una focalización impresionista.

    This article aims to demonstrate how there is a parallelism between the figurative qualities of pictorial impressionism and the avant-garde aesthetics that Jean Epstein sets in his film The Fall of the House of Usher. In turn, it is a question of studying the process of adaptation of the literary universe of Edgar Allan Poe protected in the style of Gothic romanticism, with special emphasis on visual references. For this, it is a question of investigating how descriptive appreciations are conceived that concern an avant-garde visual representation. The methodology used for the analysis is based on using the aesthetic variables that allow to support how a model of different visual representation is created. Through the analysis of the images it is possible to study the traits that characterize the ascription to the Impressionist movement and the style that defines the author brand. To this end, it is intended to describe how a suitable targeting is recreated in the staging, in which different types of environments are recreated.
