    El presente artículo identificará los elementos simbólicos presentes en La sangre de un poeta con el mito de Orfeo, adelantando cómo esta película vanguardista prefiguró el universo poético que Jean Cocteau desarrollaría a lo largo de su carrera. La formación del imaginario de Cocteau estuvo marcada desde su infancia por la traumática muerte de su padre que su madre quiso compensar sobreprotegiéndole. A través de la simbología presente en su primera película se establecerán una serie de analogías y relaciones entre la propia biografía del autor, las referencias al mito de Orfeo y la interpretación que otros artistas cercanos al surrealismo hicieron de estos elementos.

    This article will identify the symbolic elements present in The blood of a poet with the myth of Orpheus, anticipating how this avant-garde film prefigured the poetic universe that Jean Cocteau would develop throughout his career. The formation of the imaginary of Cocteau was marked from his childhood by the traumatic death of his father that his mother wanted to compensate overprotecting him. Through the symbology present in his first film we will establish analogies and relationships between the author’s own biography, references to the myth of Orpheus and the interpretation that other artists close to surrealism made of these elements.
