    El interés de la literatura clásica por el conflicto que enfrentó a Roma contra Cartago nos permite estudiar aspectos de la historia de esta antigua colonia tiria que nos son prácticamente desconocidos para otros periodos históricos. A pesar del protagonismo de la familia bárquida y sus más íntimos allegados en los acontecimientos históricos de este período, la supremacía de los estrategas bárquidas y sus colaboradores nunca fue absoluta ya que tuvo que hacer frente a una férrea oposición de una facción contraria que hizo uso de todas las herramientas a su disposición, tanto legales como ilegales, para frenar su ascenso al poder primero e intentar poner fin a su supremacía después. La presente contribución pretende analizar la composición de estas facciones políticas cartaginesas, determinar sus diferencias políticas y definir las técnicas de las que se sirvieron para hacerse con el poder o arrebatárselo a sus opositores.

    The interest of classical literature on the conflict that confronted Rome against Carthage allows us to study aspects of the history of this ancient Tyrian colony that are virtually unknown to other historical periods. Despite the prominence of the Barcid family and his closest associates in the historical events of this period, the supremacy of the Barcid strategists and their colleagues has never been absolute since they had to deal against the opposition of a political faction that used all the tools at its disposal to stop their rise to power or to try to finish their supremacy. This contribution aims to analyze the composition of these Carthaginian political factions, determine their political differences and define the techniques that can be used to seize power or to avoid others from reaching it.
