En el artículo se analizan las consecuencias de la artificialización del cuerpo, cuando se busca la belleza absoluta o la salud perfecta, en el intento de superar los límites de la naturaleza humana. Por un lado, el cuerpo va perdiendo poco a poco su carác ter simbólico y sacral hasta tranformarse en objeto de consumo y manipulación técnica. Por otro, la vida misma se transforma en un riesgo perenne, sin posibilidad de una relación equilibrada con sigo mismo, con los demás y con el mundo.
Sólo la capacidad de acoger lo inesperado e incontrolable puede permitirnos conciliar la legítima búsqueda de la belleza y la salud con la inevitable imperfección que siempre acompaña a lo humano

The article analyzes the consequences of the artificialisation of the body, when one pursues the absolute beauty or the perfect health, in the attempt to overcome the limits of human nature. On the one hand, the body gradually loses its symb olic and sacral character turning into an object of consumption and technical manipulation. On the other hand, life itself becomes a perennial risk, without the possibility of a balanced relationship with itself, with others and with the world. Only the ability to accept the unexpected and uncontrollable can allow us to reconcile the legitimate pursuit of beauty and health with the inevitable imperfection that always accompanies the human
