  • The prevalence of nonprofit organizations in the hospitality and tourism industries prompted the Department of Hotel, Restaurant, and Travel Administration at the University of Massachusetts to offer a course studying nonprofit organizations. The course studied why and how not-for-profits exist in a capitalistic economy, knowledge necessary for managing nonprofit operations, and how, through cooperative efforts, nonprofit organizations can support for-profit entities.
