Resumen de El castillo de Bellver: de Museo de Arte Antiguo a Museu d’Història de la Ciutat de Palma

  La cesión que el gobierno de la Segunda República realizó en septiembre de 1931 del bosque y del castillo de Bellver, gracias a la gestión del diputado en Cortes Alexandre Jaume Rosselló, implicaba la creación de un museo de arte. La Comisión Municipal de Cultura formada por miembros de la corporación, entre los que destacaba el futuro alcalde Emili Darder Cànaves, fue la encargada de crear el Museo de Arte Antiguo, que inició su actividad en 1932. Hasta la creación del Museo de Mallorca, en el año 1961, actuó como Museo provincial, albergando el material procedente de todas las excavaciones arqueológicas. En 1974 se creó el actual Museu d’Història de la Ciutat de Palma, fruto de un convenio de colaboración entre el Ayuntamiento de Palma y la Dirección General de Bellas Artes del Ministerio de Cultura.

  The Bellver woods and castle were transferred to the City Council of Palma by the government of the Second Spanish Republic in 1931 thanks to the member of Parliament Alexandre Jaume Rosselló. The assignment agreement implied the establishment of an art museum. The Municipal Commission of Culture, comprised of members of the Council among whom the future major Emili Darder Cànaves stood up, was in charge of the creation of the Museum of Ancient Art whose activity started in 1932. Until the foundation of the Mallorca Museum in 1961, it worked as a provincial museum, housing the materials that came from all the archaeological excavations. The present Palma History Museum was created in 1974 as a result of a collaboration agreement between the City Council of Palma and the Department of Fine Arts of the Ministry of Culture.
