  Este estudio examina la articulación de memorias culturales en diversas novelas criminales catalanas contemporáneas a través de la metáfora del palimpsesto. El artículo desarrolla nuestra interpretación de la contribución específica por parte de la novela criminal a los estudios sobre la memoria en España, al centrarse en el contenido y en la forma. Esta lectura sostiene que la estructura narrativa palimpséstica del género criminal reproduce tanto el intento de suprimir el pasado como la reescritura múltiple de la historia que han tenido lugar en España desde la Guerra hasta la actualidad. Mi análisis cuestiona la importancia otorgada en estudios anteriores sobre crímenes históricos en la ficción criminal española a la recuperación del primer texto borrado –la historia del crimen–. Por contra, el artículo sostiene que la conexión entre los dos niveles textuales es importante para entender la producción de memorias culturales en la Cataluña contemporánea

  This study examines the articulation of cultural memories in a number of contemporary Catalan crime novels through the metaphor of the palimpsest. The article develops our understanding of the specific contribution of crime fiction to memory studies in Spain more broadly by focusing on content and form. I argue that the palimpsestic narrative structure of crime fiction replicates the attempted suppression of the past and the multiple rewritings of history that have occurred from the Civil War onwards. This reading questions the importance given to the recovery of the first erased text – the story of the crime – in previous studies of historical crimes in Spanish detective fiction. Instead, it argues that the connection between the two textual layers is important for understanding the construction of cultural memories in contemporary Catalonia.
