The Hegelian aesthetics could at first appear as a work of reason hindering access to the indomitable background of the sensible reality, what may properly be defined as “terrible”. However, if we look at it, we think it is possible to take the opposite view of this interpretation by asking the following question: is such an undertaking of reason, in the Hegelian aesthetics, only feasible?

L’esthétique hégélienne pourrait d’abord apparaître comme un travail de la raison entravant l’accès au fond indomptable propre à la réalité sensible qualifiée à bon droit de « terrible ». Cependant, à bien y regarder, nous pensons qu’il est possible de prendre le contre-pied de cette interprétation, en posant la question suivante : une telle entreprise de la raison, au niveau de l’esthétique hégélienne, est-elle seulement réalisable ?
