Natalia Ginzburg è stata tra le più sensibili narratrici del Novecento letterario italiano. Per la profonda umanità e spiccata moralità, non può non essere ricordata a poco più di cento anni dalla sua nascita. Vicina agli ambienti colti degli intellettuali antifascisti, la sua produzione fu varia e spaziò dalla narrativa, alla saggistica, al teatro. Ma il suo romanzo più noto resta senz’altro Lessico famigliare in cui rievoca la vita quotidiana della propria famiglia attraverso lo ‘speciale’ codice linguistico dei suoi componenti. Lacerazioni affettive e distacchi dolorosi percorrono anche il suo ultimo libro-inchiesta, Serena Cruz o la vera giustizia, pubblicato nel 1990, un anno prima della sua scomparsa.

Natalia Ginzburg was one of the most sensitive narrators of the 20th century Italian literature. For her profound humanity and strong morality, she must be remembered just over a hundred years after her birth. Close to the groups of anti-fascist intellectuals, her production varied and ranged from narrative, to essay, to theatre. But her most famous novel still remains Family Lexicon where she recounts her family’s daily laundering through the ‘special’ linguistic code of its members. Afflictive lacerations and painful detachments also go through her latest book-inquiry, Serena Cruz, or True Justice, published in 1990, a year before she died.
