  Biographical studies cover an important theoretical and methodological framework that has been developed in the human and social sciences, in which there is an appreciation of the meaning attributed by the subject to events or narrated situations. This study aims to discuss and compare the methods of life history, narrative research and testimonio, by the analysis of the historical context of its emergence, the definition of its central concept, the methodological procedures, their main contributions, as well as the most significant criticism, highlighting their similarities and differences.

  Os estudos biográficos abrangem uma importante orientação teórico metodológica que vem sendo desenvolvida nas ciências humanas e sociais, nos quais há valorização do sentido atribuído pelo sujeito aos acontecimentos ou situações narradas. Este artigo tem como objetivo discutir e comparar os métodos da história de vida, pesquisa narrativa e testimonio, por meio da análise do contexto histórico de sua emergência, da definição de seu conceito central, dos procedimentos metodológicos, de suas principais contribuições, bem como das críticas mais significativas, destacando assim, suas semelhanças e diferenças.
