Resumen de Sánchez de Valladolid en el siglo XVI: la Segunda Parte de las Crónicas de España de Lorenzo de Padilla

El manuscrito BNE 1342 ha sido incluido dentro de la tradición manuscrita de Crónica de tres reyes y de Crónica de Alfonso XI por casi todos los investigadores que abordaron el tema. Incluso se lo ha considerado como testimonio secundario de una hipotética crónica perdida, anterior al texto de Sánchez de Valladolid. El presente trabajo contextualiza el testimonio de este singular códice, lo define como una obra diferenciada, llevada a cabo por un erudito de mediados del siglo XVI, en la cual confluyen gran cantidad de fuentes diversas y, finalmente, propone que el mismo consiste en un testimonio completo de la Segunda parte del vasto programa historiográfico de Lorenzo de Padilla, cronista de Carlos V, el cual habría constado de cuatro partes (desde los orígenes hasta los Reyes Católicos), aunque hasta el momento sólo se conoce la primera

The manuscript BNE 1342 has been included in the manuscript tradition of the Crónica de tres reyes and Crónica de Alfonso XI by almost all the researchers who have addressed the topic. Such is its significance that it has been considered a secondary testimony of a hypothetical lost chronicle, prior to Sánchez de Valladolid’s text. The present work contextualizes the testimony of this singular codex, defines it as a differentiated work, written by a mid-sixteenth-century scholar, in which a large body of different sources converge and, finally, it suggests that it constitutes the entire Segunda parte of the vast historiographical corpus of Lorenzo de Padilla (Carlos V’s chronicler), which would have consisted of four parts (from the origins of Spain to the Catholic Kings), although until now only the first part has been acknowledged.
