    La obra poética y narrativa de la escritora Rosalía de Castro se convirtió en el modelo literario más influyente en la forja de la imagen colectiva de Galicia en las postrimerías del siglo XIX. La emigración masiva constituyó igualmente uno de los temas tratados en su obra. En este artículo centramos nuestro interés en la interacción entre Rosalía de Castro y los emigrantes gallegos en América, la recepción e influencia de sus escritos en ultramar, y los contenidos de ese intercambio. Desde finales del siglo XIX, las colectividades de emigrantes gallegos elaboraron una suerte de mito rosaliano, convirtiéndose a su vez en un buen ejemplo de circulación de un símbolo compartido, que habría de servir de base a una comunidad diaspórica emergente

    The poetic and narrative works of Rosalía de Castro became the most influential literary mirrors for shaping the collective image of Galicia in the late nineteenth century. Galician mass migration was one of the topics extensively treated by this author. Here, we narrow our focus to the dynamic interaction between Rosalía de Castro and Galician migrants in the Americas, the reception and influence of her writings among them, and the nature of this exchange. From the last quarter of the nineteenth century, the Galician migrant communities elaborated what may be labelled the ‘Rosalían myth’, which became a good example of transnational circulation of a shared symbol that, moreover, sustained an emerging diasporic community
