En los siglos XVI y XVII los moralistas eclesiásticos condenaron la representación teatral considerándola responsable de propagar malas costumbres éticas y por el hecho de la actuación en sí, la cual tachaban de impura e indecente. La oposición se centró en el contenido depravado de las obras, el cual se juzgó responsable de pervertir las conciencias y trastocar la escala de valores establecida por la Iglesia. El presente artículo presenta un manuscrito inédito sobre la licitud del teatro del Siglo de Oro, cuyo autor es todavía desconocido. Tras ofrecer un breve estado de la cuestión, el estudio se centra en la descripción externa y en el contenido del texto, constituido por un buen acopio de citas de autores clásicos y, sobre todo, de la Patrística.

In the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries the ecclesiastical moralists condemned theatrical performance, which they considered responsible for spreading bad habits, and, especially, acting, which was held to be impure and indecent. The opposition focused on the depraved contents of plays, which were thought to be responsible for perverting the conscience and disrupting the scale of values established by the Church. This article presents an unpublished manuscript about the legality of the theatre from the Golden Age, whose author is still unknown. After introducing a brief summary of the status of the issue, this study focuses on a description of the manuscript and the content of the text, which consists of an interesting collection of quotes from classical authors, and, especially, patristics.
