Para conformar el retrato social de Montánchez en los primeros decenios del siglo XX curiosearemos en sus ordenanzas municipales, en las páginas del periódico local “La Comarca” e incluso en las notas y fotografías de la americana Ruth Matilda Anderson que nos visitó en 1928. Un recorrido que se detendrá también en los cambios políticos y culturales durante la II República y la guerra civil, cuyos actos represivos tuvieron aquí poca trascendencia. En la posguerra la emigración mermará su población; su actividad económica convive con las fiestas y divertimentos públicos donde sobresalen los famosos carnavales, la arraigada afición montanchega por los toros y las vivencias religiosas. Con el análisis de las legislaturas en los años democráticos llegaremos al siglo XXI.

To shape Montánchez’s social portrait in the first decades of the 20th century we will snoop in his municipal ordinances, in the pages of the local newspaper “La Comarca” and even in the notes and photographies of the American Ruth Matilda Anderson who visited us in 1928. A tour that will be stopped also in the political and cultural changes during the Republic II and the civil war, which repressive acts had here transcendency small. In the postwar period the emigration his population will reduce; his economic activity coexists with the holidays and public amusements where there stand out the famous carnivals, the deep-rooted interest of Montánchez for the bulls and the religious experiences. With the analysis of the legislatures in the democratic years we will come to the 21st century.
