    • The article focuses on changes experienced by the Royal Treasury of New Spain following the absolutist restoration of Ferdinand VII. As a result of this political change and the context of civil war that the Viceroyalty was experiencing, it proceeded in 1815 to the abolition of the liberal direct tax and the creation of a tax committee (Junta menor de Arbitrios) in order to propose a set of reforms that would cover the deficit owned by the Royal Treasury. A committee in which was represented the viceroyal corporative order: the Cathedral Chapter, the Guild of Mining, the Guild of Merchants or the Municipality of Mexico City
