    El objetivo de este artículo es ponderar el involucramiento activo del "ser joven" de los estudiantes en la construcción de las representaciones sociales de "su" juventud. Relata algunas disputas que se han dado entre estudiantes y autoridades universitarias en los planos de la realidad y el simbólico, y da cuenta del proceso de ahondamiento de la brecha que separa el mundo institucional del de los estudiantes. El análisis refiere sucesos acontecidos en el siglo XX y el XXI.

    The aim of this paper is to emphasize the student participation in constructing and deconstructing the meaning of their youth. It focuses on the disputes between them and the university authorities in regard of social representations of young people in higher education, and underlines the process whereby the students disengaged from the institution, during the 20th and 21st centuries.
