Arabic calligraphy has occupied a prominent place in the decorative compositions that have been used, both in the Mashreq and Maghreb countries, in the ornamentation of Islamic architecture. In this article, the author wonders about the presence of elements of the Arabic calligraphy in the Marinid historical monuments of the city of Fes, by treating in the first place the contexts of his employment, its locations on the walls and the facades, the methods of its implementation on the different materials used in the decoration. Secondly, it focuses on the description of the elements of Arabic calligraphy, its formal proportions, highlighting the different styles adopted by Marinid artists and their innovations in the field of Moroccan epigraphic heritage, while taking the greatest care to recall their interaction with the artistic legacy of previous dynasties and with those of their contemporaries

La calligraphie arabe a occupé une place de choix au sein des compositions décoratives qui ont été utilisées, à la fois, dans les pays du Mashreq et du Maghreb, dans l’ornementation de l’architecture islamique. Dans cet article, l’auteur s’interroge sur la présence d’éléments de la calligraphie arabe dans les monuments historiques mérinides de la ville de Fès, entraitant en premier lieu les contextes de son emploi, ses emplacements sur les murs et le façades, les méthodes de sa mise œuvre sur les différents matériaux utilisés dans la décoration. Il s’attarde en second lieu, au descriptif des éléments de la calligraphie arabe, ses proportions formelles, en mettant en valeur les différents styles adoptés par les artistes mérinides et leurs innovations au domaine du patrimoine épigraphique marocain, tout en prenant le plus grand soin de rappeler leur interaction avec le legs artistique des dynasties précédentes et avec ceux de leurs contemporains
