Resumen de A arqueologia como ofício de materialização, compreensão e acontecimento

Sérgio Gomes

  • This text focuses on the epistemological nature of the archaeological record aiming to drive our attention to archaeology as a practice of materialization of alterity. With such purpose, the archaeological process is discussed through concepts coming from the contemporary critical thought, particularly: Archive, Understanding and Event. In doing so, the archaeological process is conceived as an archive practice within which are created the objects of study. Such objects, as objects of understanding, can be elements participating on the conditions of Event. An event which may unfix the finality imposed to archaeological knowledge, opening it up as a possibility to engage with difference.
