The acquisition stage of a Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum digital receiver synchronizes the pseudonoise (PN) sequences used by emitier and receiver blocks. One of the most used methods to implement this stage is the "serial search" method. However, one of the most critical parameters, which we have to take into account, is the treshold value used at block that decides if the PN sequence has been synchronized. This paper describes a novel method to dynamically choose a treshold value which adapts itself to a changing channel in "single dwell" and "multiple dwell" acquisition systems in a full digital receiver
