Resumen de Parting observations and potential directions for future scholarship

Marcia Finlayson

  • In order to successfully discuss our theoretical ideas and educate individuals outside of occupational therapy about our unique contributions to the health and well-being of individuals, families and communities, we must first be able to debate our core constructs with each other. While publication can contribute to international idea exchange, events such as World Occupational Therapy Day (see: http://ot4ot.weebly.com/world-otday- schedule.html) provide even more focused opportunities for interaction and advancements in practice, education and scholarship. Comparing assessments, interventions and outcomes across countries and cultures has the potential to enhance our theory development, create meaningful educational strategies and practice protocols, and build evidence about the best ways to enable occupation.
